Special PTA Voting Meeting
1/25/2022 2:12 pm
Save the Date for a special Voting Meeting of the PTA Board, on Friday, February 4th at 8:00 am.
The month of January does not have an official PTA Meeting, however we plan to call a special "voting" meeting to approve the members of the Nominating Committee and a budget amendment. The Nominating Committee is the group of people who help determine the new slate of PTA Officers for the 2022-2023 School Year.
Unlike some other committees at school, these folks have to be officially voted in/approved by a PTA vote before they can begin their important work.
This meeting should not take long, and we're trying to make it as convenient as possible, because we plan to hold the meeting at 8:00am on February 4th, directly after our February Walk and Roll. Simply drop your kiddo off and join us in the MPR for a brief vote.
Thank you and we hope to see you there.

On this day, parents are invited in to view a special rodeo dance presentation during your child’s SPECIALIST time! More information to come, but we wanted to make sure you have the date on your calendar so that you can make plans to attend.

Math & Reading Stars
12/7/2021 12:41 pm
Use Extra Time During the Holidays to Earn Math and Reading Stars!
Does your holiday break include time in the car or on a plane? Or maybe some down time at home? Grab a book or some flash cards and start earning stars!
The Math and Reading Stars program is in full swing, but it’s not too late to get started! The holiday break is the perfect opportunity to earn extra stars! Each student who earns 24 stars in math or reading (or both!) by mid-April will receive a medal at the end of the school year.
Color in a star on the math or reading worksheet when your child completes:
- 30 minutes of extra math practice (Check out the PTA website link below for online tools that students can use to practice!)
- 1 hour of extra reading beyond what is expected for his/her grade level

Library Volunteers Needed!
We recently brought back one of our parent's most favorite volunteer opportunities...Library Volunteers!
Use the sign up genius to volunteer during your child's class library time. You will be helping check out books, and generally assisting Ms. Ankney during your child's library session. Most sessions are only 30 minutes (some just 15 minutes) so it's a quick and easy opportunity to volunteer on campus.
Please note that 5th graders do not have an assigned library time and are therefore not shown on this sign up. Also, please note only language arts teachers are on the sign up, so sign up for when your child is with that language arts teacher (morning or afternoon) if you don't see your homeroom teacher listed.
Due to the overwhelming interest in this volunteer role, we are asking that parents only sign up for 2 slots a teacher at this time. For example, if you have three kids, you can sign up twice for each of those children, not twice total. If slots remain open after a few weeks, we will open it up to signing up as much as you'd like.
Enjoy time in the library with your children as their love of reading grows. Questions, contact Melissa Treadway.

Weed the Marque
10/20/2021 1:16 pm
Do you have a green thumb and want Wilchester to look its very best?
If so, please grab a friend and consider volunteering to weed the flower bed around the marquee at WCE! We just need volunteers to do it, on their own time, once a month. It only takes about an hour and it's good for the soul!
Pick a day and time that work for your schedule, preferably during the first week of the month. Gloves and a trash bag are suggested. Weeds may be deposited in the compost bin at the NE corner of the playground.
Thank you for helping to beautify WCE!

Just sign up! But act fast, as there are over 850 students at Wilchester and only 12 spots available each month (we have added 2 additional spots each month).
Have your child featured on the marquee in front of the school for their entire birthday month, beginning in September.

There are only 12 spots available each month and they will sell out, so act fast!
Birthday Book Club

Birthday Book Club
Do you want to honor your child's birthday in a special way?? The Wilchester Birthday Book Club is a great way to celebrate your child’s birthday and help grow our school library!
To honor your child, simply purchase a book for the library. Books will be delivered on the first Monday of each month (with the exception of September and January). The honorees will be the first to receive and read the books. When finished, they will return the books to the library for others in the school to check out and enjoy!
If you want to honor a summer or September birthday, please ensure you have purchased a book by August 26th!
And remember, hardcover books will last longer in our school library, so please consider donating a hardcover book when possible.
For information about how to donate a book, see the Birthday Book Club webpage.
